If you are looking for your perfect property for sale in Almansa, then you might want to find out more about it:
Almansa may not be as popular as other cities in Spain, but don’t let that fool you. Almansa is a smaller but beautiful upcoming destination that is worth a living in. You will be surprised by some of the unique things to do and places you can explore at this hidden gem of a town.
The Castle of Almansa, representative of the Castile-La Mancha region and one of the most beautiful in Spain, is perched on the Cerro del Águila, a steep rocky outcrop that raises its spectacular silhouette above the plain of Almansa. It is the symbolic monument of the city. It is a border fortress between the Castilian kingdoms of Castile and Aragon and the Muslim kingdom of Murcia; and, nowadays, between the provinces of Albacete, Valencia, Alicante and Murcia.
Around it, the streets surround the rock and pay homage to the presidency of the castle. Among its stone arteries, the other monuments surrender to the discovery of the traveller, proud of their treasures. The Casa Grande or Palace of the Counts of Cirat, now the town hall, is distributed around a square courtyard, which is accessed from a hallway with a segmental arch, and which acts as a distributor of the living spaces, a structure that maintains the palatial concept of the 16th century. The courtyard is overlooked by galleries with semicircular arches supported by Ionic columns corresponding to its two floors. The spandrels of the arches reproduce the motifs of the coat of arms on the main façade.
The convent of the Agustinas del Corpus Christi has a simple rectangular doorway framed by Solomonic columns. The parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción is an excellent mixture of styles, neoclassical, Renaissance and Gothic. The convent of San Francisco is a magnificent expression of Baroque art. Other places of interest are the old neoclassical Town Hall, the bridge of Carlos IV in the west of the city, the Cuco de los Graganchines…etc.
On the outskirts we find La Torre Grande, an old farmhouse so called because of its imposing square tower, three floors and basement. The sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de Belén with a beautiful baroque chapel. The San Blas Chapel with its Levantine profile dome.
If you want to enjoy the town’s main festivities, which are of National Interest, you must visit Almansa from 1 to 6 May. More than 3,000 people take part in the traditional events such as the Lamb Raffle, Flower Offering, Serenade, Battle of Flowers, Procession of the Virgin.
Its gastronomy includes dishes such as Gazpachos with ingredients such as rabbit, partridge, garlic, peppers and tomatoes, or Ajo Mataero, based on homemade bread, white bacon and pork liver.
